Trans-Trap Surge Protectors are gas surge arresters designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from damage due to excess voltage or currents generated by transient phenomena (lighting or static build up). HOW TO INSTALL: Use the threaded stud on the back for a single hooe mounting and grounding. Either connector may be used for input or output. Pre-existing cable must be cut and each end fitted with a male connector. Connect a cable to each end of the Transi-Trap and the installation is done. NOTE: To insure that the copleted installation is weatherproof it is imperative that the mating coaxial connectors be sealed using proper materials and procedures.
Excellent broadband performance from DC thru 500 MHz, compared to the narrowband DC blocked or stub designs. Innovative impedance compensated thru-line cavity design allows control voltages to pass thru the device, instead of the "wire around" requirement of DC blocked designs. This design allows "in-circuit" cable sweeps. Innovative fast acting gas tube replaceable ARC-PLUG™ module can be removed and replaced in the field in about one minute with no tools required, and without having to remove the protector from the circuit. The "O" ring sealed knurled knob does the trick! The ARC-PLUG™ module and connectors are "O" ring sealed for complete weatherproofing. Effective performance. Due to the carefully designed reactance compensated thru-line cavity and ARC-PLUG™ module placement, customer and government test approvals show this design is as good as, or better than, DC blocked designs.
It is not DC-blocked, so it will pass control voltages in applications requiring the coaxial cable to carry both RF and DC voltage - such as remote antenna switches which use the coaxial cable for both RF and DC switching.
