Product Description
ARS-G505-400 – PL-259 UHF-Male Coaxial Connector for LMR-400
The ARS-G505-400 PL-259 UHF-Male Coaxial Connector is a heavy-duty RF connector designed for terminating LMR-400 and other 0.400-inch-class coaxial cables. Constructed from durable silver-plated brass with a PTFE (Teflon) insulator, this connector provides a reliable connection for amateur radio, CB, marine VHF, and other RF applications.
The PL-259, commonly known as a UHF-Male connector, mates with a standard SO-239 UHF-Female chassis connector. The connector is designed for cable termination using a combination of center-pin soldering or crimping and outer-ferrule crimping, providing a secure mechanical and electrical connection.
Compatible Coaxial Cables
- LMR-400
- RG-8/U
- RG-11
- RG-83
- RG-213/U
- RG-214/U
- Belden 9913
- Other compatible coaxial cables with approximately 0.400-inch outer diameter
Product Features
- Connector Type: PL-259 / UHF-Male

Installation
Prepare the coaxial cable according to the connector's termination dimensions. Install and secure the center contact by crimping or soldering, then slide the outer ferrule into position and crimp the ferrule securely around the cable.
Common Applications
The ARS-G505-400 is suitable for:
- Amateur / HAM radio
- CB radio
- Marine VHF radio
- Base-station antennas
- Mobile radio installations
- RF coaxial cable assemblies
- Antenna feed lines
- Communications equipment
Important Note
PL-259/UHF connectors are widely used for HF and VHF communications and are commonly found on amateur and CB radio equipment. The UHF connector is a non-constant-impedance design, so it is generally best suited to lower-frequency RF applications rather than modern high-frequency microwave systems.

Easy to Use
Very easy to use as long as you have the proper crimping tools. Makes a good, solid connection. Much easier than using soldier connections.
-
Very Strong
This is just what I was looking for. It's so much easier to crimp the connector then to have to solder it. The connections seem very strong and should last for a long time.

PL-259 Connector Discription
The connector is well made. Clean and bright. Solders easy if you have plenty of heat. I set my Iron with a broad tip to 800deg. Solder flows right into the braid and tip. I use Scott 88 tape to seal connector at the antenna. The California Heat does not unravel the tape.
