Even if you drill the access hole perfectly for your bulkhead connector, there is always just a bit of maneuver room. The nuts that come with the barrel connector do fine as long as the hole isn’t sloppy, but these larger nuts should be the de facto standard instead of the smaller nuts that come as standard.

I looked everywhere for a 5/8-24 thread large nut. A bigger nut that would give me a larger wrench size to aid in mobile installations. I have three pass-through coaxial connections for two VHF-UHF radios for both voice and data communications and one HF connection. Using the standard thin wall nut just wasn't secure enough for my work. I eventually needed eight of these nuts for my complete install. A 5/8"24 (24 threads per inch (tpi)) is impossible to locate otherwise.
